one of the cool things about my job is that i frequently see my couples again. often times it is at other weddings, but sometimes it is when they have a child and i have the honor of photographing them as a family. in this crazy world, it is refreshing to capture happy couples with happy children.

i first met bryan and michael when i photographed their awesome wedding over 5 years ago. when bryan reached out to me about taking pics of their son, harrington, i was excited to have a chance to work with them again and meet their little one. harrington is almost two which means he is fast and fearless and very into exploring. with toddlers, you never know how it is going to go, but harrington has such a sweet temperament. he was totally chill with me following him around with a camera on his explorations.

we hadn’t really started the shoot yet, but i liked this moment where bryan was helping harrington get ready…. child photography bedminster new jersey

harrington is very into the maintenance of his ferrari and was busy checking the gas cap… child photography bedminster new jersey

i love that toddlers walk with such a free spirit… child photography bedminster new jersey family photography bedminster new jersey

at this point, i’d been following harrington around for quite awhile and he still took a moment to turn around and wave hello to me. what a sweetie pie! child photography bedminster new jersey family photography bedminster new jersey

this is toddlerhood. parents cleaning up after you, you know putting away your ferrari and stuff for you, while you move on to the next thing… family photography bedminster new jersey

hah. family photography bedminster new jerseytrying to get a toddler to stay in once place and look at the camera goes against their natural state of being… family photography bedminster new jersey family photography bedminster new jersey

i love this moment of adoration, where despite harrington being interested in things other than smiling for the camera, bryan and michael are clearly so in love with his awesome personality. smiling and looking at the camera is nice, but this is the kind of moment that makes a family photo for me. years from now, harrington will be able to look at this photo and see how much he was adored and every kid deserves that. family photography bedminster new jersey

but, bam! i got one of harrington smiling for the camera! family photography bedminster new jersey

being a parent means you have to accept things, like accepting that your family photos might be taken on a john deere gator.  family photography bedminster new jersey family photography bedminster new jersey

one of the things that made this photo shoot such a pleasure is the fact that bryan and michael just let harrington be harrington letting his joyful, sweet and curious personality shine through. candid family photography bedminster new jersey

and he’s off… candid child photography bedminster new jerseysuch an honor to be asked to capture harrington at such a precious stage in his life. so great seeing bryan and michael again!

i shot monica and jon’s wedding over 6 years ago and have had the honor of seeing them again at two other weddings. it is always a pleasure seeing these two and working with their friends and family, so when they started reproducing i thought, ‘awesome!’

i got to meet their oldest daughter, alison, at monica’s sister’s wedding and was not surprised to see such an adorable little girl. a few months later, i saw monica and jon again at her friend’s wedding where monica was very pregnant with her second child. just a week later, she had madelyn. as a gift for being her maid of honor, monica’s friend got her a family session with me. when monica contacted me about doing the shoot around madelyn’s first birthday, i was super pregnant, hah… so we held off until the late fall when i’d be able to keep up with these little cutie pies. they came out to my ‘hood on a beautiful afternoon. when i got to meet madelyn, i was not surprised to see another adorable little girl.

these girls are as sweet as they are adorable…

sisterly love…

so freakin’ precious…

i love this little moment when alison stops to clean off some leaves from madelyn’s sweater…

i love all the happy!

photographing kids is a much different challenge than shooting weddings, but capturing the moments of simple pleasures and joy makes it all worth it…

having worked with me many times, monica and jon knew to just trust me and let it flow. these are my favorite kinds of family photos. these are the kinds of shots that really tell the story of a family…

my secret little hideaway spot…

i almost can’t handle all of the cuteness!

the old buttercup test…

love that happy!

so much love in this family…

ok, yeah… this is a bit over-the-top with the cuteness…

i love how madelyn is hiding in plain sight. so sweet.

such an honor to capture monica, jon, alison and madelyn. it’s so much fun to see my couples again and meet their children. in this crazy world, it brings me so much joy to know there are such happy families out there.

i met up with matteo and his family in jersey city. they used to live here and recently made the move to the ‘burbs. matteo is friends with a couple of other cutie pies that i have photographed. they all spent some time in the hoboken/jersey city area and are all now enjoying life in the ‘burbs. it’s pretty obvious matteo is living the good life!

love all this happy sitting on his old stoop!
this is one of those limited time joys of childhood!

did i mention matteo is living the good life? can’t you just feel the happy radiating off of him?
ugh, the cuteness…
sometimes those of us that live in the nyc metro area take for granted that we see things like the statue of liberty often… lovin’ lady liberty just chillin’ in the background of this shot.
another limited time joy of childhood….
love all the love!
hah!
matteo… a master of his own destiny…
when you are almost three, you aren’t interested in sitting still for any pictures. you are on the move. it was definitely a challenge to keep up with matteo and his changing focus, but a good time for sure!
he was very into the rocks…
matteo was promised a ride on the train after the shoot. he said his ticket was for the ’38’ train. for those of you who have taken the train in jersey city, you are probably wondering what this ’38’ train is. it’s one of those trains your parents make up to convince you that your ticket is only good for that specific train and not all the trains that are passing by in the meantime. here, matteo is waiting patiently to watch the train come by and talking about his upcoming ride on the ’38’ train….
got yer’ nose!
here comes a train…
one last jaunt… not a bad backdrop, huh?

such a pleasure meeting matteo and his family!

i’ve been lucky to work with enzo and jaxon (and their wonderful parents) a few times this year. it’s always a pleasure working with them. just when i think they can’t get any cuter… they do! it’s been fun watching them each go through the different stages.

we met up early one morning to capture the growing boys….
ugh, can’t take it… so cute! and he is super sweet, too!
love this!
hah…
i love how jaxon is totally chill about this…

that’s a happy kid!
jaxon gave me a lot of this face that morning….but i still find it stinkin’ cute

always so nice to catch up with these guys….

nicole and michael are two time veteran wedding guests of mine so i was very excited when nicole wrote me inquiring about doing a shoot with their new addition, emma….

emma is adorable. just totally adorable.
we met up in hoboken where nicole and michael used to live and emma was all smiles!
while trying to take emma’s pic, she decided to come a bit closer to see what was up…
smiley parents make smiley babies!
hah! emma learns a new trick!
hahahah sooo cute… she was all about this new trick!

so happy to have met emma and spent a nice afternoon with her and her parents photographing her cuteness!
