the threat of rain has been real this spring in new jersey, but the rain let up just enough for chris and jason to take a stroll outside for some pics for their rockaway river country club wedding in denville, nj. chris and jason had to plan their wedding from afar, but since chris used to be the assistant gm at the rockaway river country club, he had a little bit of an edge when it came to planning. although chris and jason grew up in different states, it turns out they had a person in common. i love when life brings out these kinds of connections. chris and jason’s rockaway river country club was my ‘royal wedding’. in fact, i forgot the royal wedding was even happening until a couple hours into photographing chris and jason’s wedding, hah.
how cool is this green detailing in chris’ ring?
the struggle is real.
ta-da!chris and jason got ready together. i love this concept. i’ve only had a handful of couples do it throughout my 13 years of photographing weddings, but i love it! weddings get so romanticized with so much emphasis on not seeing one another or doing a big first look, but there is something very romantic and intimate about getting ready together on the day you marry.
midnight blue tux for the win!
showing off that green again…
so happy chris and jason were willing to deal with a little bit of misty rain for some outside pics…
i almost moved the umbrella, but it is a part of the story…
i observe my couples so that i can reflect who they are as a couple rather than just take the same exact posed photos the industry forces down our throats. what works for some couples doesn’t work for others. chris tended to lean his head into jason a lot throughout the day and i could see it was his way of connecting and taking in a moment- so it was only natural that i capture it!
marriage license time…
jason’s brothers watch as chris and jason walk down the aisle together…
i love how chris took a moment to check out his wedding ring…
tasting of four elements— sour, bitter, hot and sweet. (this one is bitter)
a little post-nuptial kiss eskimo kiss..
there it is again… chris taking in the moment with jason…
rockaway river country club wedding party time!
it was also jason’s brother’s 30th birthday– i think 30 is still the new 20. at least that is what i told myself when i turned 30.
it was such an honor to capture chris and jason’s rockaway river country club wedding. i knew it’d be a beautifully orchestrated day from start to finish with emphasis on the celebration of love. fantastic time with everyone. thanks to kelsey davis for assisting me.
