for many years i turned away inquiries for newborn photography. i wasn’t interested in copying the styles of the popular newborn photography and i’m not big on staging imagery. my focus has always been to let things flow. this year though, i decided to stop saying, ‘no’ and delve into the world of newborn photography. i started off by working with sweet kinnley, the daughter of one of my wedding couples, earlier this year and decided i would continue to entertain newborn photography.
what a pleasure it was to meet newborn twins, kareena and milan. and how super awesome is it that they are practically my neighbors– well, at least out this way, what i’d consider neighbors. these sweetie pies were born four weeks early and put their mother through well over 30 hours of labor. that means their mom, amita, ended up on the same list at the ob (we used the same group and same hospital) as i did for ridiculously long labors. i can relate to the shear exhaustion from that amount of labor! but we have to give this momma a little more credit because when kareena got herself a little stuck, a c-section was required and anyone that has ever recovered from a c-section knows that the recovery puts some limitations on the amount of weight you can lift and some other restrictions as the body heals and when you have two babies to take care of, it requires extra mom strength. when i arrived at amita and eric’s gorgeous farmhouse, i was blown away by how fantastic they looked! i’m pretty sure i still look like i’m recovering from my 30 hours of labor almost 3 years later, hah.
what was also so amazing is how strong and alert kareena and milan were. at just two weeks old and four weeks premature- these two were filled with strength and expressions. amazing to see such strength out of such tiny babies!
watching newborn twins gravitate toward one another wherever you put them down is one of the sweetest things i’ve ever seen… a testament to the human bond and desire for love.

kareena gives me some bright eyes and big smiles!
father and son…
kareena snuggled up in her mom’s arms…
although i tend to prefer a lot of black and white imagery with newborns for the simplicity and focus on the connection and moments, i wanted to show the awesome mural on the wall of amita and eric’s farmhouse…
had to capture milan’s signature hand gestures…
i had left something behind and went back to get it a week or so later. amita was kind enough to say my 3 year old daughter could come as well. my daughter looovvveesss babies. she was in heaven when she got to hold each of them and even feed milan. she even commented on how tiny his feet were :o)
such a pure moment… kareena reaches out to her brother to comfort him.
grandparents!
grandma with her hands full!
look at these smiles!

kareena leans her head over until she finds milan and she can then rest at ease…
it was such an honor to photograph this beautiful family and amazing to witness bond and strength of these two newborns. looking forward to seeing my ‘neighbors’ around town!
