Kaley and Dylan’s south Jersey summer backyard wedding in Hammonton set a record for me after 20 years. The record their wedding set for me was being the hottest wedding day I had ever photographed eclipsing an incredibly humid date back in 2008. However, on that day back in 2008, I only had to photograph the portraits outside, but for Kaley and Dylan’s south Jersey summer backyard wedding, everything was outside. When I pulled into their driveway, it was 100°! Kaley and Dylan did not let the heat stop their joy. These two were troopers. Dylan was in a full suit and didn’t utter even a minor complaint which he totally deserved to do being in that suit in the heat! Their chemistry was fantastic, the setting was perfect and the vibe of the day and guests was joyful!
Just a little walk down the road was this beautiful spot for photos and, luckily, it was in the shade!
Kaley and Dylan all smiles for their first look…
Kaley and Dylan live on such a quaint road in south Jersey and, despite the oppressive heat, were willing to take a walk for a few pics….
It was a hot day to be a dog, but Bella was all sweetness!

Dylan’s mom gives him a big hug at the altar…
Bella… so happy to be a part of it all…
I love the bathroom cat sign and thought this was a fun way to work it in…

Such a beautiful setting for an outdoor summer backyard wedding ceremony. If you’ve never been to south Jersey, it’s worth a ride to check it out. Although I am a New Yorker at heart growing up near the Shawangunk Mountains, going to undergrad and grad school in NY, I have been in New Jersey now for 18 years. It is a small state and it often gets a bad rap and joked about, but there is a lot going on here. The Pine Barrens, where Kaley and Dylan live, is a beautiful area where the landscape changes a bit to something most people don’t think of when they think of New Jersey. So if you’ve never been, this is my PSA to tell you to go check it out!
Dylan’s mom ‘warms’ the wedding rings as all of the guests had a chance to.
Kaley’s parents ‘warming’ the wedding rings…
Best friend moment….
Jude is gonna Jude. As a storyteller, I embrace moments like this. While we put effort into getting that shot with everyone looking and smiling, kids are going to be kids. They just want to be the little free spirits they are.
Bella is a total doll!
Kaley and Dylan shared a first dance…
A wonderful performance by a young woman. It takes a lot of guts to get up and sing in front of a crowd!
Party time!
Bella got out of the house for a minute and ran joyously around. She was so excited to check everything out, but she was also super fast!
That is Bella in the back sniffing the table of food… Setting the record for hottest wedding day I ever photographed in 20 years was Kaley and Dylan’s south Jersey summer backyard wedding in the Pine Barrens in Hammonton. The day was made so much easier by working with such an easygoing couple, a super sweet pup and such gracious and joyful friends and family. So happy for Kaley and Dylan and honored to have been asked to capture their day.
