having gone to grad school on long island, a little alarm bell goes off when i get an inquiry to shoot a wedding there. traffic. traffic. traffic. that’s what i remember about my time there so when beejal wrote me about her 4th of july weekend wedding on long island, i thought, ‘holy traffic’ and considering my calendar was filled up for 2016, i thought about just saying i wasn’t available, hah, but my gut told me to see what she was all about and i’m so glad i listened to my gut.
when i met up with beejal and ryan, it didn’t take long to figure out that they were my kind of people. her ‘non-fluffy’ personality and her story about how she met ryan made me laugh and sitting with the two of them, you could just feel their great connection. they came out to my ‘hood for their engagement session. their chemistry brightened up a rather lackluster fall that never seemed to peak. we started at tinicum park across the river and then headed back to the green acres behind my property.
ryan’s background in producing and directing has him knowing a thing or two about light so when i wanted to try out some light, he was curious to see what i was coming up with. i figured i better deliver! it turned out to be one of my favorite shots of the session.
i’m not big on harsh bright light, but i loved the tree shadows on the barn…
so much laughter with these two…
beejal takes a moment to strike a pose. those eyes!
adorbs.
love this.
love the smiles…
i’m looking forward to beejal and ryan’s wedding next summer and the nostalgia of long island traffic. i know it’s going to be filled with so much light and love (their wedding, not the traffic)!
