Like the broken record that I often am on here, it is such an honor and a pleasure to be asked by my couples to photograph their families. I was so happy to hear of MaryRose and Mark’s new addition, Camille, and so thrilled that they wanted me to come to their home to take some photos. MaryRose and Mark had an awesome New Year’s Eve wedding at The Notary Hotel in Philadelphia. You can check out their wedding blog by clicking here. As a wedding photographer, I’ve given up plenty of holidays to photograph weddings and it is super awesome when you get to spend it with such a great group of people.
When I arrived, I got to meet Flynn, their pup. He was super sweet and I loved integrating him into the photos. We have been blessed with our rescue pup, Bailey, whom we adopted over 10 years ago. Eventhough she is probably about 16 years old, she is still has the strength to be a good momma dog to our daughter. She has always looked out for her and took her right in as part of her wolf pack. I could tell quickly that Flynn had accepted Camille into his wolf pack. I’m an uber animal lover and started my “Bring All the Dogs” campaign last year encouraging people to bring their pets to their session and weddings. I’m always happy to work with animals, but I also know that as sweet as they may be, I have to proceed with caution especially while sporting big cameras and flashes. Flynn was a little bit nervous about my cameras, rightfully so, I respected his boundaries and we worked it all out.
Camille was a bit sleepy for most of the session, but she did perk up a bit for a few photos. It is not easy being such a cute baby! A girl needs her rest. MaryRose and Mark were glowing and I loved seeing how much joy Camille brings to them. You can tell they are utterly in love with her.
I love this shot of the fam. I get it’s not the traditional shot, but it works in the joy of MaryRose and Mark, the bit of interest from Camille and what looks like a very proud Papa Dog that is Flynn, leader of the wolf pack.
I love that Camille gave me a little look while her parents were busy with kisses.
A little smile with mom and perspective on how tiny Camille’s hand is against her mom’s hand…
That face!
Getting a two month old and a dog to look at the camera at the same time takes some talent, hah. I love Camille’s big yawn while Flynn shows me his big beautiful eyes.
The synchronicity of Camille rubbing her eye while Flynn appears to be rubbing his is an energy I love. These two are already in sync!
Amazing mural painted by MaryRose’s mother inspired by their trip to Africa. Africa has a way of really inspiring something in people. I do believe there is a different connection to nature and people there. I have been to Africa a couple of times and have felt that in myself. One of my, if not my, most favorite portraits I’ve taken outside of personal images of my daughter, was one of I took in Africa. I didn’t share it for over 11 years. I ended up sharing it on an odd birthday I had in 2020. You can read that blog by clicking here.
I love ALL the faces. As a mother, I can’t get enough of my kid’s face to this day. I see so many faces in her faces. I see her face changing. Documenting all of the faces, not just the smiles, are important. Camille was busy being so cute throughout this session that she was hungry and letting her parents know it.
Such a joy seeing MaryRose and Mark again and meeting Camille and Flynn. It fills my heart up to see my couples doing so well! You can check out more of my family sessions by clicking here.
