For the final days of summer, I met up with my long-time subjects, Harrington and Paxton, for some NJ candid family photography. Last year we caught up and took some photos around their property and ended in the pool and it was so much fun. You can check those images out by clicking here. When I look back to the photo shoot we did a couple years ago (click here to see), it is crazy how much they have both grown! It is always a pleasure catching up with Bryan and Michael, who I originally started working with 10 years ago on their wedding, for candid family photo sessions.
New year, new home, new pool…. same fun!
Having a little picnic… Love Paxton’s expression…
Hah… sometimes the dog is ready for a photo and the kid is not.
Too cute!
Pool time!
Paxton testing the waters…
Paxton wanted to show me his diving skills….
Harrington showing off his jumping skills…
Most of the time when I post pics, I don’t know how the viewer connects with the image, or perhaps, does not connect. Art is something you put out there for the world and it will mean different things to different people. Some people may scroll past this image and think, ‘Why is she taking a picture of the back of this kid?’… Well, I’ll tell you why. I’ve been photographing Harrington since he was very young and in this moment that he stood there he was such a big kid to me. I could see just how much he’d grown. (You can see how much he has grown by checking out the first session I did with him by clicking here). My daughter is the same age and there are these moments where it is like they just grew before your eyes and that was this moment for me. I don’t often get specific feedback about my images, but I love when someone tells me what an image means to them. It allows that image to take on even more meaning for me.
The joy on Paxton’s face is the best!
Harrington with his spin jump!
Harrington and Paxton being robots…
Well, the mood shifted quickly for Paxton, hah! While quick mood shifts when you are a parent are no fun, I love to capture the many faces of kids. One day we will look back and laugh at it all.
Harrington has always done an extreme close-up with the camera…
Despite the little brotherly squabbles… you can see their adoration of one another in this moment…It is always such a joy to meet up with Harrington and Paxton and their dads. They are always so much fun to incorporate my NJ candid family photography with. I love seeing how much they’ve grown and letting them show off their new skills to me. Always one of the highlights of my year in photography!
