As I pulled up to Anna and Justin’s Lake Mohawk Country Club spring lakeside wedding on an unseasonably chilly May day, I asked my weather angel to give me a little bit of time with these amazing clouds when it was time for portraits. My wish was granted. Anna and Justin were very deserving of not just these awesome clouds, but a wonderful wedding day!
The clouds I was hoping would be around for portraits… no AI, overlays or weird filters. Just real, natural beauty that stuck around just long enough for me to capture it.

For those wondering who is on the cufflinks, it is Gordon Lightfoot. “Sundown” has been a fave of mine on my Yacht Rock playlist before Yacht Rock was even a thing. I’ve loved Yacht Rock since I was a kid and I still do and I don’t care who knows it.

Adorable first look…
Picture perfect on the Lake Mohawk boardwalk…
Most people who come to this blog don’t know this, but my Bachelors is in Geology and my masters is in Oceanography. Meteorology was a part of my studies as those two fields are very interdisciplinary. Maybe that has something to do with why I appreciate the clouds so much? I even had a poster of the different cloud types for a long time. The nerd in me is excited for these amazing formations that the interplay of the environment creates. The creative in me is in awe of the gorgeous light and tones that it presents to us. I’m not sure if it is weird to be so excited about clouds, but just like my love of Yacht Rock, I will feel no shame for my exuberance.

Emotional exchanges at the altar for Anna and Justin’s Lake Mohawk Country Club spring lakeside wedding ceremony…

And a lighthearted moment in the mix when the ring bearer dropped his ring pop in the sand…

Justin’s sister wipes a tear as Anna walks down the aisle.

The butterfly was a beautiful way for Anna to work in the spirit of her mom. As someone who also lost a parent tragically as a kid as well, I feel this kinda stuff in a big way. Growing up, there isn’t anyone to relate to. It’s a lonely club. So I feel for those little kids that we were and I feel for these moments and I think it is really beautiful to take a moment to feel the feelings on a wedding day. When I book clients it is important to me that we connect on some level. I knew Anna was as empathetic of a person as I was from our conversation and I understood where a piece of that came from. Not a lot of people can connect with me on that level and I think that out of pain can come some beautiful things like a deeper understanding of people.
Meanwhile, the ring bearer was chilling with his ring pop as a dollop of sunshine illuminated his face during the wedding ceremony…
Justin’s sister choked up when doing her reading. That kind of sibling love is awesome. Something to treasure.

Anna and Justin ready to celebrate their Lake Mohawk Country Club wedding reception!

The clouds came back a bit during the reception as the sun just about set. I couldn’t resist taking a quick portrait with the subtle night sky as the backdrop.
This crowd was ready to party!

Group hug!
It was an honor to work with a couple so kind and loving as Anna and Justin on their Lake Mohawk Country Club spring lakeside wedding. I’m so happy the day worked out perfectly for them. They totally deserved it!
