truth be told, it’s been about fives years since i last photographed a wedding at landmark venues liberty house. it was really nice to get back to such a fantastic location. landmark venues never disappoint in food and service and you can’t beat the views of the nyc skyline at the liberty house. laura and matt had a brisk, windy nj wedding day. we had met up earlier this year in the late winter on a brisk, but much less windy day for a mini engagement session at my house.
trends in wedding preps… the tv is on during a groom prep, but off during a bridal prep…
you’re wondering what they are all looking at?
i love synchronicity in images…
confetti!
it’s a bra tossing at me kind of year…
i like when a reflection happens naturally…
a little help from her friends…
beautiful.
the wind was for real… the last time i was photographing in jersey city it was new year’s eve and the wind was combined with insanely freezing temperatures. like finger numbing in one minute kind of weather. so while, the wind and cold was a bit of a challenge for laura and matt’s liberty house wedding day, it was nowhere near the insanity of last winter!
real moments…
laura and matt had their wedding at the immaculate conception chapel at seton hall university where they met. sometimes you get patches of intense light that can be tricky… you gottta know how to use it…
matt watches as laura walks down the aisle…
i love how the sun set into the stained class windows of the chapel…
love the little connections of a wedding day…
matt gives his grandmother a hug…
husband and wife!
too cute! this one is going on my ‘cute grandparents’ pinterest board. (yes, i really do have a ‘cute grandparents’ pinterest board- you can check it out here)
last time i photographed a liberty house wedding, they did not have the drapes option, but i’m loving it…
first dance!
party time!
you know i love me a good laugh-cry…
even got mom in on it, too!
are you not loving these drapes?
my dad and all of my grandparents passed away within 7 months of one another when I was in 10. every wedding I photograph where grandparents are in attendance, i think how lucky both they and the couple are. It’s such a special thing to have a grandparent witness your marriage. what you don’t see here is that Laura’s grandfather was going to come to the church, at most, but he ended up staying for almost the entire reception which makes this pic all the more special. i identify as a photographer, but mostly, I just consider myself a genuine human with a life full of tragedies and triumphs and a technical skill that I honed in order to be able to share with the world the connections and moments and beauty that I see. a fantastic liberty house wedding day with laura and matt, their friends and family. it was so great to get back to the liberty house after so many years. looking forward to photographing a wedding there again next summer. thanks to kelsey davis for assisting me.
