This New Jersey summer family session is with two kids that I love to photograph, Harrington and Paxton. I started working with their dads back in 2011 for their wedding celebration and have been photographing the boys over the past several years. They are always a joy to work with! I love working with Bryan and Michael as well because as much as there is a little bit of kid-wrangling that goes on, they really lets things flow which makes for some fun and unexpected photos. The boys have grown so much since our session last year. You can check that one out by clicking here.
I love this photo. The boys were being so playful together and it’s a silly moment with some beautiful crepuscular rays (I have a Masters in Oceanography and I always remembered this term from my Meteorology class). That is definitely a real sky and a real moment…
So cute…
Harrington is getting so big he has started to lose some teeth!
I love this image for the interactions. Each person is looking at someone else. I love how Bryan was coming in to wrangle the kids a bit which can be tiring for parents, but you can see the joy on his face and Paxton is just straight-up having a blast while Harrington is just like, ‘what is this kid doing?’… love moments like this…
The boys heading over to sit down poolside…
I love getting up close and capturing the expressions of kids, but I also love wide environmental shots that show just how little they are…
Harrington has some superb moves…
I also love an image like this…we don’t often pay attention to things like a kid’s legs. They don’t seem all that important to photograph, but these legs will grow into the legs of a man, his posture and stance will change and I love these small reminders of the shape our kids once took…
This image for me captures what it is like to parent little ones. They are always on the go and you’re often getting them dressed and doing other things as they continue to play…
Paxton… just chillin…
Harrington has always loved to come up close to my camera during a session. It’s a tradition now. This was an extreme close-up unprompted as he got out of the pool. Eventhough this kind of close-up can lead to a little bit of distortion and funkiness, I love his confidence and eagerness to just get right up into the lens as water drips from his face…
Paxton’s version of it was to hand sunglasses to share with me… so sweet! It is always a pleasure to catch up with Harrington and Paxton and their dads. This New Jersey summer family session was the first time I got to hang out poolside. It was fun capturing the boys in such an unpredictable environemnt. Always such a joy! You can check out some of their past family sessions here, here and here.
