When I met with Michele and Lawrence about their Perona Farms NJ wedding, I knew they had the right attitude about the wedding day and would be a great fit for my style. With their own creative careers, I also knew they had a keen eye when it came to photography and was honored that they chose me as their photographer. We had a chance to work together during their Monmouth University engagement session which you can see here. They met while attending Monmouth University together…
four ties being tied at once…
Loving the new carriage house space at Perona Farms…
A little help from dad…
As Lawrence was reading a card for video in the other room, his dad was checking something on his phone and his brother was playing ping pong…
The ladies were upstairs hanging out…
A little help from a friend…
More help from a friend…
Probably the only day in your life when you need this much help from a friend to get dressed…
I love this moment from Michele & Lawrence’s first look. While the rain was supposed to hold out a little bit longer, it decided to start coming down about 2 hours early. I love how Lawrence is patiently waiting to see Michele while Michele takes a look at the current weather situation. It might not be the most glamorous moment, but it is part of the story…
It’s still raining….sometimes you gotta think outside of the box….
I love a bride that is willing to walk out in the pouring rain!
Ceremony time!
Lawrence watches as Michele walks down the aisle…
I know the actual kiss is considered a must-have wedding photo, but I love moments like this. Look at all that joy on their faces as they are about to kiss! On a side note, I know Michele told me her two cousins would be officiating, but it must have slipped my mind that they were twins because I was a bit confused prior to the ceremony when this one officiant seemed to be everywhere. I kept wondering where the other guy was, hah!
I love how excited Michele is and how stoked Lawrence is checking out his wedding ring…
The barn at Perona Farms is a cool space for an NJ wedding…
This picture just cracks me up. It was super candid and the inadvertent middle finger that Michele is giving was her subliminal messaging about her thoughts on the cake cutting. It is ok to flip off wedding traditions and trends that you don’t care about. It’s totally cool to be into wedding traditions if you genuinely appreciate and love them, but so many couples feel obligated to go along with traditions and trends that they don’t want to. I love how my couples stay true to themselves. Michele wasn’t sure she wanted to cut the cake at all… like not even really fast off in a corner. I told her that was fine with me, what is important to my couples is important to me. Ultimately, her and Lawrence decided to do a super quick, informal cake cutting and when I saw her middle finger go up just prior to them cutting the cake, I knew I had my cake cutting shot! Thanks to Perona Farms for being supportive of the fact that they were not interested in making a big deal over the cake cutting. It is great to see venues supporting what couples want and not forcing them into the same box as all of the other couples.
Party time!
The worm…
Michele needs a little help tying her sneakers on the dance floor…
Tie limbo is one of my favorite wedding dance floor antics… I knew no matter what the weather brought, it would be a fantastic day at Michele and Lawrence’s Perona Farms NJ wedding. It was a pleasure working with Michele, Lawrence and all of their friends and family. Thanks to Kelsey Davis for assisting me.
