I always love a chance to photograph a wedding in the New York’s Hudson Valley since I grew up there and can appreciate its beauty. Lilah and Nathan reached out to me about their Saugerties Steamboat Co wedding and I was excited to hear about this intimate sweet venue on a small river that recently started doing weddings. It a very simple space with preserved original elements. The space just feels good! Rather than do the typical prep coverage, Lilah and Nathan opted to start with a first look instead. While prep photos can be fun, don’t be afraid to skip them if you don’t find meaning in them or want to be able to afford a better photographer and are willing to reduce coverage to do that. There is a lot of emphasis on the getting ready part of the day by the industry, but I’ve done several weddings without the prep and I can assure you, they are equally as meaningful of a day. Lilah and Nathan’s wedding day was filled with repeated laughter and tears of joy.
First look…
I love the quiet of the Saugerties Steamboat Co…
A perfect spring day!
But first… let me take a selfie…
Priceless expressions…
Lilah’s sister officiated the wedding…
The wedding ceremony at Saugerties Steamboat Co takes place nestled between the two old mill buildings along the river…
Lots of laughter with heartfelt vows…
and some tears…
And of course… my favorite– the laugh-cry!
Lavender toss! I say forget the sparkler exits and bring back the lavender toss!
Elmo peeps…
I love the simplicity of a Saugerties Steamboat Co wedding. Original wood floors and brick walls that don’t need any fanfare. It’s a perfect location for a couple looking to keep things simple and let the beauty of the location shine…it was great working with DJ Lou Pais of Paris Creative.
Toasts!
High fives!
Surprise performance…
Love Lilah’s reaction…
Party time!
Travis, the service dog, takes a little break at the end of the night… Such a beautiful and heartfelt wedding day at the Saugerties Steamboat Co in the Hudson Valley of New York. I loved the intimacy of Lilah and Nathan’s wedding. Thanks to Kelsey Davis for assisting me.
