Courtney and Brian’s The Gables LBI winter wedding took place on bright and sunny late February day. I love intimate weddings and one of my favorite places to photograph intimate weddings is at The Gables on Long Beach Island. It’s a charming historic Victorian inn that presents an opportunity for open-air dining and dancing. This was the first time I got to photograph a winter wedding at The Gables and it was a super lovely setting for a winter wedding.
I started at Lavish Salon for the prep. Courtney was getting her makeup done while her daughter, Kennedy, and her mom hung out. Brian and his mom were also there…
Kennedy getting her hair done… I love the attitude here.
I love storytelling moments like this. I always say that wedding photography has been pretty compromised by social media and the emphasis on portraits and details, but these are the moments that really bring you back to this place and time. Kennedy is playing around just being a toddler while Courtney is in the makeup chair as Brian and her mom look on…
Kennedy was really into brushing the mannequin’s hair…
After spending quite some time playing with the mannequin’s hair, she set her down and had this moment where she really took some time to look at her…
I totally get the idea of getting ready apart and not seeing one another until the first look or the ceremony, but I really love when my couples get ready together. It is super intimate. I’d love to see the industry start to embrace this trend to bring a higher level of intimacy to the prep.
Love the smiles here…
So happy Courtney and Brian were willing to brave the beach for a few…
Winters in New Jersey are often quite grey, but we had a very bright and sunny day for Courtney and Brian’s wedding…
That dress!
Kennedy was so adorable on her trot down the aisle for Courtney and Brian’s Gables LBI winter wedding, I just had to post a series of images….
I was really thankful that the guests who were standing around the couple for the ceremony left me some space to work… thank you, everyone!
I loved this look of joy just after the kiss…
Guests had an opportunity to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and mingle about…
When I saw this young man reading a book, I was so excited which was also kinda sad since the fact that he was reading a book was something I just don’t see often anymore. Replace the book with the iPad or iPhone and that is how kids are entertained when out these days. I was so excited I had to say something and had a wonderful conversation with the young man about books and this book in particular. It was super refreshing!
Although it was a bit too brisk to be out in the open-air for dinner…. guests were still able to enjoy the lovely porch setting for a sit down dinner…
Courtney and Brian’s first dance…
Kennedy had a great time doing her own dances during the first dance and parent dances…
The Gables on LBI is just the most charming little inn…
Cake time!
It was a long day for Kennedy and she really held up well!
I thought this was such a fitting final shot of the night.. Kennedy cuddled up in her grandmother’s arms. She took a peek and looked straight at the camera… and I didn’t mind.Courtney and Brian has such a lovely intimate winter wedding at The Gables on LBI. I always say I’m going to have some kind of event at The Gables one day myself! Thanks to Kelsey Davis for assisting me.
