It is always an honor when my couples come back to me years later to have me photograph their families. This LBI New Jersey beach family session was one of those honors. I originally met Amanda and Patrick over 7 years ago back when I was pregnant with my own daughter. They were having a dream wedding at The Gables Inn in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island in New Jersey. If you haven’t been to The Gables, it’s a dream Victorian inn nestled in Beach Haven on LBI. I met Amanda and Patrick and their two precious girls at The Gables just a little past their six year wedding anniversary. The girls were so amazing to work with. Totally up for having a great time. Amanda and Patrick weren’t worried about getting wet, sandy or anyone’s hair being messed up. They just went with it and the results are so fun. That’s the thing with my family sessions… I try my best to let things be and if you come ready to play and have fun, the photos are going to capture all that true joy!

During a family session, you have to be prepared that the little ones are going to want to do their own thing…
I still try to work in the typical ‘everyone smiling and looking at the camera’ photo…
…but the reality is there is a lot of this before you get it…
